Mercy For None Season 1 Review

The story is straightforward—Gi-seok’s suspicious death sparks Gi-jun’s blood-soaked quest for vengeance. Set in a tense criminal landscape, the narrative hinges on the shattered truce between two rival gangs, Ju-woon and Bong-san, after Gu Jun-mo (Gong Myung), the volatile son of Bong-san’s leader, orders Gi-seok’s murder. While the premise isn’t groundbreaking, the show’s dark atmosphere and pacing keep the tension high.

So Ji-sub delivers a commanding performance as Gi-jun, channeling his signature stoic intensity (Doctor Lawyer, A Company Man). His cold, grief-fueled cruelty makes Gi-jun both compelling and terrifying—anyone tied to Gi-seok’s death is either dead or broken. Gong Myung is a revelation as Gu Jun-mo, shedding his usual soft romantic roles for a menacing, unpredictable antagonist whose violent outbursts steal scenes. Supporting performances, like Lee Joon-hyuk’s brief but impactful role as Gi-seok, add emotional weight.

The show excels in its raw action sequences and character-driven drama. The fight choreography is visceral, and So Ji-sub’s portrayal of restrained rage anchors the series. Gong Myung’s transformation into a chilling villain is a standout, proving his range. The underworld setting feels authentic, with cinematography emphasizing its grime and danger.
